This year has proven that many schools have the talent and commitment to bring home championship banners!  In the junior varsity basketball season, four different teams stood out from the rest to claim the top two spots in the tournament seeding.

During the girls’ junior varsity season, Langley School and Woods Academy finished the regular season in the first and second place spots, with Immanuel Christian School in third.  During the tournament, Woods Academy defeated Congressional School in the consolation game.  The championship game was between number one seed Langley and number three seed Immanuel Christian School.  Langley won and went undefeated.

In the boys’ junior varsity season, two teams of equal strength went toe to toe.  Woods Academy won the regular season and Norwood School finished second, with Langley School in third.  During the tournament, the consolation game between St. Patrick’s School and Sheridan School provided a great deal of excitement and saw St. Patrick’s take third.  The finals were a rematch of the regular season showdown and they lived up to their billing.  In a thriller of a game not decided until the final minute, Woods Academy finished their season undefeated by beating Norwood School.

At the varsity girls’ level, the division play was full of excitement.  Langley School won the regular season West title and Norwood School won the East title.  In the consolation game, Norwood School beat a tough opponent in St. Patrick’s School.  In the final, long- time rivals Westminster School and Langley School battled it out.  Langley’s Leopards proved too tough for Westminster to take, and Langley won the tournament title.

At the varsity boys’ level, the divisions were won by Langley School in the West and Norwood School in the East.  The consolation game between Langley School and Immanuel Christian School ended with Langley taking third.  In the finals, it was Norwood School and number two seed Woods Academy that battled over the tournament title.  In a close defensive battle, the Blue Hawks of Norwood defeated the Mighty Owls of Woods Academy in the final minute of the game.
